Event Report – Rock Climbing

Rock Climbing 2016

It was a balmy mid-April afternoon up in Koreatown by Christie Station. With a healthy dose of spring both in the air and in our collective step, a group of JETAA Toronto members and guests scaled up a good time at this year’s annual rock climbing event.

This year’s event was held at the recently opened Basecamp Climbing Gym. Formerly the site of the old Metro Theatre, the building now houses Toronto’s newest, tallest, and most accessible set of indoor climbing walls.

All of the Basecamp staff were incredibly patient and friendly, and even the fellow patrons of the gym were welcoming towards the new climbers in our group. All in all, Basecamp was a great day out for people of all levels of climbing ability.

Despite the many enthusiastic displays of genki-ness, sore fingers and aching muscles won the day. The weary rock wranglers retired to a nearby pub for some well-deserved rest over pitchers of beer and platters of goodies.

Many thanks and a big otsukare to out climbing instructors, the event coordinators, and everyone who attended! Many thanks to Nicholas JonesĀ for taking such great action shots.

See you at the next JETAA event!
