Event Report: A Hajjjoween To Remember

It was a cold, dreary and rainy night, not to mention the strangest evening in the year when cosplay characters and kabuki devils are free to wonder the streets of Toronto. Yes, it was Hajjjoween! The event that for some reason has triple J’s, perhaps representing the level of Japaneseness. If this is the case, then it should really be ‘Hajjjjjoween’, as the event was a multi-lateral concoction, brewed from the minds of JAVA, Japanada, JCSA, CJA, and JETAA.

Event Report: Re-Entry Conference Nijikai

On Oct. 19th, JETAA hosted its annual re-entry conference at the Japanese Consulate. Sticking with traditions, after the conference many recently returned JETs along with other JETAA members headed over to Elephant and Castle on King for the Nijikai.

After a day full of activities and workshops, it was a good venue to continue chatting and networking over a few pints and traditional delicious British food, such as fried pickles and mini stuffed yorkies (care of JETAA). (more…)

Returners Izakaya Night Event Report

Welcome Back Returning JETs

On Saturday, September 14th JETAA members welcomed back returning JETs by eating a tasty dinner along with plenty to drink at Don Don Izakaya on Dundas Street West. The returners Izakaya night was a great way for those JETs coming back to Canada to mingle with their sempai and discuss many things, from reintegrating back into Canadian culture to reverse culture shock.
