I never knew quite how badly I wanted to throw an axe until I held one in my hands. I mean, I suppose I’d had an inkling. (I think anyone who has ever been anything remotely into fantasy has imagined swinging swords and throwing a whole range of sharp pointed objects). But it wasn’t until this September’s JETAA Axe-Throw-Houdai over at the Backyard Axe Throwing League that my chance was finally realized. All within a safe learning environment and with competent instructors! Technically, they were instructor-referees, and were AWESOME. Thank you Cookie and Millsy! They made the entire night a lot of fun and provided lots of laughs, even if even they couldn’t quite save my game. It turns out axe throwing requires a lot of core strength in the torso. (more…)

Position Description: The JET Programme Assistant Coordinator will provide assistance in the fall recruitment period of the JET Programme. She/he will be responsible for answering telephone and in-person inquiries from JET candidates; responding to post and e-mail inquiries; helping maintain data using MS Access; preparing and creating form letters in MS Word and assisting the JET Coordinator with preparations for the selection interviews. On occasion, she/he may also be asked to assist with work beyond the JET Programme or assist with occasional school visits.
