Facing an interview panel can be kind of nerve-wracking, but so can sitting on the other side of the desk! Last month members of the Toronto JET Alumni Association spent a few days with the staff of the Japanese Consulate conducting interviews for the 2011 JET Programme.
On Friday, March 11 a group of 15 JETAA members and friends attended the Kodo Drummers’ show at the Sony Centre in downtown Toronto. In light of the disaster that had happened in Japan less than 24 hours earlier it was a night of mixed emotions. We had looked forward to the night for months but our hearts went out to those in Japan.

For those not familiar with the sport, dragonboats are powered by 20 paddlers, plus a “sweep” or steerer at the back and a drummer keeping rhythm from the front.

On Saturday, March 5th, our steaming hot art show was a blazing success at the Gladstone Art Bar. Bellies full of wine and music in our limbs, things really heated up as the room was filled to the brim with JET alumni and friends of JET alike. We had close to 70 people in attendance, presenting a terrific opportunity to see some old faces and make new friends.
