After a successful year of sampling Toronto’s ramen shops with the monthly Ramen Romp, JETAA Toronto invited all Alumni to join the First Annual Ramen Rumpus!
The 30 lucky participants in the rumpulicious day included JETAA Toronto and Ottawa members with some friends and family. The bigger group was divided into three groups, each with a team leader who organized the logistics of touring the group of ramen enthusiasts amongst three of the top traditional ramen hot spots in downtown Toronto. Each participant was presented with a signature pin, designed by Sonomi Tanaka, making them official Ramen Rompers.
JETAA Toronto heated up the cold, brisk winter day – Jan 23, 2016 – with the day-long ramen celebration in Toronto’s vibrant and growing ramen scene. The big group kicked off the event, meeting at Yonge and Dundas Square at 1pm.
Ramen Rumpus participants sampled three large tasting-sized portions of signature ramen bowls from each of the Ramen shops – Miso Ramen at Santouka, Pork Tonkatsu Ramen at Sansotei, and Shoyu Ramen at Raijin Ramen. Between locations, participants enjoyed a well needed walk. The team leaders provided some great trivia about ramen and its establishment in Toronto, filling the shops with vibrant chatter and cheer!
For Ramen Rompers, this was certainly an indulging event filled with friends, food and nostalgia! Hope to see you again next year!
