Event Report: Family Day at Riverdale Farm

Thanks to the fifteen plus JETAA adults and kids who came out to make our first Family Day at Riverdale Farm on Sunday, August 30th so successful.  The weather was great all day long, and Cabbagetown invited us in with open arms.

Early arrivers stretched their legs and chatted on re-purposed hanami blankets, nibbling on picnic basket offerings while waiting for the whole group to congregate.  The youngest among us showed off their crawling, grasping, and babbling skills, while their parents chatted and caught up with old and new friends.

Once the whole group had assembled, we embarked on a loop-de-loop around Riverdale Farm, a heritage restoration of a 19th century Ontario farm. There were plenty of pigs, horses, goats, and rabbits along the way.  After a nice stroll punctuated by photo breaks, vegetable, and wildflower gardens, we capped off our afternoon with a round of ice cream at local “Park Snacks” mainstay The Winchester Café.

Thanks to all those who made it out for our first Family Day; adult, child, or otherwise.  We look forward to seeing even more smiling faces out at our next installment.  Stay tuned for more info on future family-friendly JETAA- and Japan-related fun!
