Rock Climbing on a Rainy Saturday

On Saturday, April 16, 13 brave JETAA members and friends set out in the pouring rain to Toronto Rock Climbing Academy for a three-hour climbing session.

With most of the group having never climbed before, the morning started with a beginner lesson in harnesses, knot-tying, carabiners, GRIGRIs and proper belay form.

Once Instructor Geraldine was convinced of their mettle, the group paired off and started attacking the walls with vigour. Gravity meant nothing to the wannabe Spidermen (and women), who after merely an hour, were flying up and down the Academy walls. While the wind and the rain battered the windows outside, the group was warm and dry inside, strapped safely into their gear.

The hand and footholds scattered along the walls coloured an otherwise gray day. Climb on, JETAA, climb on!
