Advice:
1. Healthcare is in desperate need for change and innovation, and requires smart people from many different backgrounds to solve its problems – for example, business, IT, engineering, design, data analysis. So, don’t close the door for yourself if you’re not in a “traditional” healthcare path.
2. Talk to executives in hospitals, or healthcare professionals, and ask them what it’s like to work in healthcare – what makes them get up in the morning? What keeps them up at night? This way, it will help you understand if you really want to work in healthcare, and if so, how your skills and background might help them address the many issues.
3. Don’t be afraid to experiment and try different jobs and career paths on your path towards healthcare. Consider each job as an opportunity to learn specific skills and knowledge (and to have fun!)
